Self-similarity formation of a pendant drop of power-law fluids

To fully explore the breakup behavior of gel propellant in both macroscopical and microscopic scales, present study started from self-similarity analysis for a power-law liquid thread, transition viscocapillary to viscocapillary-inertia regime was identified by experimental verification, using high-speed photography technology image processing. Furthermore, dissipative particle dynamics method employed predict profile thread when diameter thinning filament approaches micro-/nanoscale. Three different regimes, capillary-, viscocapillary-inertia-, thermal-fluctuation-dominated modes, were carefully reproduced validated. Results showed that process can be retarded inertial viscous effects. In addition, there are some similarities existing between micro-/nanoscale processes.
